These are the Best 20 Healthy Recipes for any Fourth of July celebration!

Best 20 Healthy Recipes for the Fourth of July instantloss.com

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a Summer girl through and through! There is hardly anything I love more than soaking up warm weather, swimming in the pool, and barbecuing with my friends and family.

These recipes are a combination of my favorite “summertime” recipes that I plan to make for our Fourth of July family barbecue this year.

1. Grain Free Blender Hamburger Buns

These simple Grain Free Buns will give you something to hold onto while you enjoy all of your favorite fillings!

2. Instant Loss Skinny Margaritas

I love a good margarita. Most diets call for abstaining from alcohol, but I knew that wasn’t a realistic lifestyle change for me. Instead, I threw out the sugar-filled mixes and began mixing my own drinks. This recipe in my Instant Loss Cookbook (page 214) is a great alternative and a tasty addition!

3. Barbecue Jalapeno Burgers

These Barbecue Jalapeño Burgers are amazing. Sweet and tangy homemade barbecue sauce combined with the spiciness of the jalapeño, these will satisfy any fast food burger craving that you have!

4. Tangy Barbecue Beef Back Ribs

I never liked ribs until I started cooking beef ribs in my pressure cooker. If you haven’t tried ribs this way, boy are you missing out! The ribs will literally fall off the bone and melt in your mouth. This tasty recipe in my Instant Loss Eat Real, Lose Weight (page 175) and is simple put finger-licking good!

5. Lightened Up Strawberry Lemonade

This lightened up version of Strawberry Lemonade is a delightfully refreshing summer treat!

6. Homemade Barbecue Sauce

Smoky, tangy, with a hint of spice this homemade barbecue sauce is great for grilling or dipping! We love this on top of chicken or hamburgers and best of all it’s husband approved!

8. Cauliflower “Potato” Salad

Anytime we go to a friend or family member’s house for a meal, I always offer to bring a side dish. This potato salad-esque dish is my go-to side dish for any barbecue!

9. Instant Pot Sriracha Hummus

Hummus is one of my favorite snacks ever. A few years ago, Brady and I found a Sriracha Hummus at Whole Foods. We obsessively bought it for about a year and then it vanished, never to be found again. Frustrated, I started tinkering, like I do, and came up with a kick butt Sriracha Hummus!

10. Instant Pot Salty Baked Potatoes

Instant Pot Baked Potatoes are a great side dish or main course! And to top it off they only take a few minutes to cook to perfection!

16. The Best Guacamole Ever!

Every time I make this ridiculously good guacamole, it’s gone in 60 seconds. It is, by far, the most requested dish that I make. I’m required to bring it to every family function. Suffice it to say, if food could get a standing ovation, this would definitely be the dip to do it.

This healthy ranch dressing is so good, you’ll want to eat it by the spoonful! It’s a great way to get raw veggies into your kiddos and it’s always a hit at parties. I always have a massive veggie platter at every gathering and this ranch dressing always draws a crowd!

20. Jalapeño Black Bean Burgers with Paleo Sandwich Thins

These Jalapeño Black Bean Burgers are super simple and very filling. These burgers are great to make for any Summer barbecue as the guests will love them and they are not loaded up with tons of fat and artificial ingredients. Another plus is that there is not a lot that goes into making them. And that’s always a good thing in my book! I love to pair these burgers with my Paleo Sandwich Thins.

We got back home on Monday night and first thing T We got back home on Monday night and first thing Tuesday morning Brady and I got back to it. I’ve learned over the years that not leaving trip indulgences on the trip can be a slippery slope. As soon as we come back home it’s back to our normal grind.⁣
⁣
I ate gluten and dairy-full pizza, ate an ice cream cookie bar shaped like Mickey’s face, there was even a churro in there! In the midst of that most of my meals were still pretty healthy— I ate a taco bowl, a few salads, and tried to drink plenty of water. ⁣
⁣
I’ll be tracking again for a short time as we get back on track, I always do. I’ll post workouts and my food log in stories. If you’re curious to see one of my past back-on-tracks aka BOT, visit my October BOT highlight on Instagram. ⁣
⁣
It’s never too late to start again, you’ve just got to start. I’ve gotten back on track a million times, it doesn’t mean you can’t do it, it just means you’re as human as the rest of us! ❤️⁣
⁣
Warning: my first few days BOT are always lighter food days. I’m usually still feeling a bit overfull so I’m more light snacky. A few days in it always picks back up. These are not meal plans designed for you to follow. This is just what I’m doing and I’m being brutally honest while I do it. ⁣
⁣
Also, we have zero groceries, I’m having some delivered today since we are quarantined for two weeks post trip so today’s food should be more exciting than popcorn, Lentil Flatbread BLT’s, and leftover sweet potato crackers from trip. 🤣
3 1/2 years ago we flew to California to see if th 3 1/2 years ago we flew to California to see if the weather would help alleviate Aveys JRA. ⁣
⁣
Flying had always been an extremely uncomfortable experience for me. I was always too hot and I would have to hold myself very still so I didn’t rub the people beside me. My legs would spill under the armrests onto the other seats. I was always apologizing to those next to me because the seats were just too small. ⁣
⁣
There is a part of me that feels relieved now because my current body size is accommodated. I don’t have to squeeze myself through isles or wear the seatbelt on the largest setting, but I still carry frustration that plus sizes, though making up a large number of our populace, are not accommodated and experience embarrassment and shame while flying.⁣
⁣
So while this is a very real non-scale victory for me, I feel less joy and more motivation to continue to help push for inclusivity and comfort for all sizes. ❤️

Happy day of rest, I hope you have a lovely rest of your weekend!
I used to think that being smaller was impossible I used to think that being smaller was impossible for me.⁣
⁣
I used to blame my size on my bones, my upbringing, my DNA.⁣
⁣
Even when I wasn’t trying to lose weight, losing weight was always something in the back of mind looming over me. Like this big thing I needed to do but hadn’t checked off my to-do list yet.⁣
⁣
Sometimes it was all I could think about. ⁣
⁣
No one wanted to date me, even though I was a super cool, mega awesome chick. All of my friends had boyfriends and I literally only had boys that were friends. ⁣
⁣
I had back issues that my doctor wrote off as weight issues but they weren’t weight issues, they were actual issues caused by severe muscle separation. But my weight was always the answer.⁣
⁣
I found a different OB after I gave birth to Avey because she told me that if I wanted to have another baby with her I needed to lose at least 80 pounds before she’d take me as a patient again.⁣
⁣
I felt like my body betrayed me. ⁣
⁣
It betrayed me with disease, with miscarriages, still birth, emergency cesareans when I had planned for natural births, rashes, uncontrollable sweating, not fitting into a single piece of clothing at Target and irregular cycles... I could go on.⁣
⁣
It sounds sad when you put it all together like that but I wasn’t sad, well, sometimes I was sad— but it wasn’t part of my character. ⁣
⁣
I spent years trying to escape myself when what I really needed to do was befriend myself. Have enough respect for her to learn how to care for her— because I really didn’t know. And then have enough patience and trust in the new behaviors I was creating to stick with them, even when I wasn’t seeing change fast enough. ⁣
⁣
When I embarked on this health journey in 2017, it wasn’t for weight loss, that was just a happy accident. ⁣
⁣
I was in heavy pursuit of befriending my long neglected body. I knew that if I could find it within myself to care for her she’d have the tools to take care of me.⁣
⁣
And that is exactly what happened.
I love making plant based yogurts! They ferment di I love making plant based yogurts! They ferment differently than dairy based yogurts and need the help of gelatin and a refrigerator to reach true yogurt consistency.⁣
⁣
I have a recipe for Coconut Milk Yogurt on the website (instantloss.com) that is absolutely fabulous but buying canned coconut milk can get pricey. For Budget I developed a recipe using Oat Milk! It’s a tangy greek yogurt style yogurt— add berries, dried fruit, coconut flakes and a little bit of honey and you have an awesome treat! OR use it to make the gluten-free Everything Bagels! ⁣
⁣
Find Instant Loss on a Budget in stores now! ⁣

Tip: If after refrigeration your yogurt is too thick, simply add it back to the blender and blend it back down to desired thickness. ❤️ Can’t wait for you to try it!!
