Substitutions:

  • If you are allergic to almonds you can use 1/4 cup of cassava flour instead of the 1/2 cup almond flour.
  • Not everyone is a coconut fan, you can leave the coconut flakes out if that’s you!
  • I like to use stevia to sweeten this recipe but not everyone is a fan of the taste. You can alternatively use 100% pure maple syrup or raw honey to taste.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup hemp hearts or seeds
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut flakes
  • 1/4 cup flax meal
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon stevia extract or sweetener of choice SUGGESTION: Alternatively 100% pure maple syrup or raw honey, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt

Instructions

  • Combine all of the ingredients inside of your Instant Pot Pressure Cooker. Use a whisk to mix the ingredients and ensure there is no clumping.
  • Using the display panel select the SAUTE button, normal heat. As the pot begins to heat, continue to whisk the mixture periodically as it thickens and warms, about 5 to 6 minutes.
  • After the no-oat meal thickens divide it into 4 equal servings and serve warm. Optionally top with your favorite fruits.

Notes

This can also be made on the stove-top over medium heat. Stir frequently for 5 or 6 minutes until the no-oat meal thickens.

  1. Can’t wait to make this! Thank you for adding an alternative to almond flour. I love Casava flour and never know how to substitute cause every flour absorbs liquid differently. Is Cassava typically cut in half for when you want to substitute in place of Almond flour?

I made this morning!!!! Not sure what to think of it. Easy to make and sure lots of health benefits to all the ingredients in the meal, however I loaded it with lots of blueberries and the taste and texture of it was just gooey and not real pleasant. I will eat the rest of the 3 servings I put in the fridge so they don’t go to waste but will probably not make this again. I have both your cookbooks and love your recipes and eager to always see what you have coming out next. Love the video where you dance and make your kids breakfast pancakes. Love that we get to see the “real” Brittany. Keep it up sweet family!!

Try making with a 1/2 cup FLAXSEED (not flax meal) as a sub for the 1/4 cup chia seed and see if that makes a difference. I made it that way this morning and it wasn’t slimey at all! Really enjoyed this and will make it again!

I love this so much! It’s surprisingly creamy, and it’s amazing with bluberries and some banana. Great change from the usual oatmeal and SO easy to make!
