Avocado Rice Cakes with Mexican Crema

These Avocado Rice Cakes with Mexican Crema will absolutely knock your socks off and blow your taste buds away.

Avocado Rice Cakes with Mexican Crema instantloss.com

I have had so many people ask me what I snack on because that is their biggest struggle. I try to limit my snacking as much as I can but let’s get real for a quick minute it is so hard not to sometimes. One of my favorite mid-afternoon snacks is a rice cake with something on top of it. There are lots of possibilities when it comes to what you want to put on-top. It is also guilt free and won’t weigh you down after you eat it (I hate that feeling so much).

These Avocado Rice Cakes with Mexican Creama are absolutely phenomenal and very simple to make. I like them because prep and clean up are so easy. Most of the ingredients for this recipe are already in your pantry, so you will not need to go to the store and get a lot of new ingredients.

I start by adding sour cream, jalapeño, cilantro, and sea salt to a wide mouth mason jar. I then blend with an immersion blender until smooth. Spread rice cakes with the crema, topped with slices of avocado, sprinkle with ground cumin, cayenne pepper, garlic powder and sea salt. Top with tomato and enjoy!

These are great to put out for after school snacks or perfect for sunny days at the lake and a picnic at the park. They will go fast because they are just that yummy. Let me know what you like to top your rice cakes with in the comments below!

I have literally been praying for someone to come into my life that could teach me or just help! I truly believe that you’re that person.

Your group has come at such a good time for me. I just want to say thanks! I might not have lost any weight (yet) but you ‘live’ in our house. Mini muffins, lentil chili, those almond strawberry cookies… When my husband tells me how delicious these new recipes are the response is always, “Britt’s recipe!” I talk about you like we just went out for coffee Hahaha. I appreciate all the work you’re putting into your website and the fb group. I feel better about myself just being a part of it.

I was craving a bacon, egg and cheese McGriddle so I was craving a bacon, egg and cheese McGriddle something FIERCE this morning! I haven’t had one in a decade so I don’t even know where that craving came from but I decided to make my own! ⁣

I made the Gluten-Free English Muffin Thins on page 77 of Instant Loss Eat Real, Lose Weight. I scrambled a few eggs, added Whole30 approved @butcher_box bacon, and topped it off with a little organic ketchup and 100% pure maple syrup.⁣

It took me about 30 minutes total, less than Door Dashing or driving to McDonalds and driving back. It also only cost me about $4 to make them for my entire family, instead of— well, whatever McDonalds is charging these days. Best of all it was actually a nutritious breakfast that is going to enable my body to feel and perform best! 🙌⁣

Anyone who has ever tried to cut junk food out the Anyone who has ever tried to cut junk food out their diet has experienced the dreaded junk food withdrawal. Researchers found that people attempting to cut down on eating highly processed foods experience some of the same physical and psychological symptoms — such as mood swings, cravings, anxiety, headaches and poor sleep — as those quitting smoking cigarettes or using.⁣
⁣
More and more research has suggested that the foods we eat, which are often highly processed and contain excessive amounts of sugar, could cause changes in the brain that are similar to those seen with addictions to drugs, like alcohol and tobacco, creating addiction-like responses. ⁣
⁣
Participants reported withdrawal symptoms were worst between days 2 and 5. Which fits because day 3 is always the day I want to throw in the towel. However, I’ve done this enough times to know now, if I just push through the day 3 withdrawal, it’s usually pretty smooth sailing on the other side. ⁣
⁣
Junk food is usually high in four addictive substances— salt, fat, caffeine, and sugar.⁣
⁣
Sugar generates dopamine, a neurotransmitter that delivers messages to the “rewards center” in the brain. Dopamine basically reminds your brain that it needs to repeat the pleasurable activity that just gave it a boost. Sugar high jacks this response and tricks the brain into thinking you need more of that substance.⁣
⁣
Detoxing from these responses is very difficult. Something I like to tell myself when I’m going through the withdrawal period is, “you can have that, just not today.”⁣
⁣
The moment we completely take something away we put ourselves into a restrictive mindset that can trigger other behaviors, like binging. ⁣
⁣
The first weeks are difficult because your body is trying to regulate your blood sugar levels and balance insulin levels that can go hand in hand with the addiction. During this time it’s essential that you are getting enough sleep and drinking enough water.⁣
⁣
Knowledge is power. Preparing yourself for withdrawal symptoms when embarking on a healthier eating journey can set you up for success. ⁣
⁣
Writing this on Day 3 of my sugar detox. Withdrawal headache in full force. ✌️ We’ve got this friends.

Everyone always wants to know what salad dressing Everyone always wants to know what salad dressing I use and the answer is— my own! It’s so incredibly easy to make your own dressings! ⁣
⁣
A must-have simple formula:⁣
1. Oil⁣
2. Vinegar⁣
3. Something special, like horseradish, Dijon mustard or citrus.⁣
4. A little honey if you like a touch of sweetness.⁣
5. Salt and pepper ⁣
⁣
And don’t forget to season your ingredients! Act like you’ll be eating each one individually. Tomatoes and cucumbers need salt and pepper, avocados need citrus. ⁣
Use whatever herbs you can find— parsley, basil, cilantro, lemongrass, chervil, etc. ⁣
Add a little cheese— no, not shredded mozzarella. I’m talking FLAVOR! Add feta or if you’re lactose-free use goat cheese!⁣
Hot sauce, minced garlic, Thai fish sauce, jalapeño, green onions— use all the things, don’t be afraid to experiment!⁣
Your salad is only as boring as you allow it to be. 🤗❤️❤️⭐️
