Instant Loss Green Juice

This Instant Loss Green Juice is a blender juice recipe with all the benefits of a smoothie and the consistency of a juice. If you see me holding a glass of green juice, this is typically the one I’m drinking.

I am a self proclaimed ex-picky eater. I know that in my “former life” I would have turned my nose up at this strange looking drink. But trust me, this is a delicious and refreshing nutrient packed snack or way to begin your day.

Instant Loss Green Juice doesn’t actually taste very green at all! More like a strawberry apple lemonade.

My children call it Hulk Juice because it’s green and it makes you S T R O N G! If you can’t get your kiddos on board with the green color try coming up with a clever way to get them excited. I find that coming up with a name (Dinosaur Juice, Grinch Juice: to cure the grumpies), works wonders! Let them assemble the ingredients in the blender and make it themselves, who doesn’t want to try their own creations?

I use my high power blender instead of a juicer because I get the added fibrous benefits that a juicer leaves out without skimping out on the silky smooth consistency of a juice. This is definitely one to try. I recommend consuming this right away as the longer it sits the more it separates. If consuming over a period time serve it inside of a Blender Bottle so you can easily shake it to mix it up again!

  • 8 ounces water
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1 large handful baby spinach
  • 1 small handful kale
  • 1 small handful frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 green apple, cored and seeded
  • 2 tablespoons cucumber

  • In the ordered listed above, add all of the ingredients to a blender, and blend on high until smooth. About 60 seconds. Drink immediately to prevent separation.

Notes

The modifications to this juice are endless. Sometimes I throw flax, chia, or hemp hearts. You can also mix it up by adding seasonal fruit. This is a base recipe so have fun with it and try new things!

    1. If you use it as a meal replacement you need to add a fat and a protein. When I use it as a meal replacement I add 1 tbsp coconut oil or half an avocado and 2 tbsp chia, hemp or flax seed.

  1. Hey Britt!
Would this hold well until the next day? I wake up so much earlier than my boyfriend that I don’t have the conscience to use my blender in the morning before work ?

    1. Hey Lene! Unfortunately the spinach will separate and create a foam sort of layer and there will be less nutrients but if you don’t mind those things, sure!

  2. This may be a silly question, but I’m new to the whole smoothie thing. Do you think it would work to prep these smoothie in individual freezer bags? I’m not exactly sure what to do with the rest of the Apple and cucumber after you use half of it for the smoothie haha.

  3. Hello! Newbie here! What is the reason you drink this juice? Aide in weight loss, detox, because it tastes good? 😀

Bought the cookbook, made the drink this morning and it’s delicious so thank you. I put the leftover measured produce in a bag to be used for my drink the next day. Based on the 30 day Meal Plan in the book, this is all that would be had for breakfast. I drank this after coming back from the gym and I was STARVING, so I added a cooked egg and then ate some smoked almonds. My question is – Did you eat exactly like the meal plan in the book at the beginning, or did you supplement with veggie/fruit sides between the BLD meals? I am just (re)starting my weight loss journey and I’ve got about 70 pounds to lose. Thank you.

Came home from bootcamp class at the gym and made this yesterday with the lemon, first thing from the book, and it was so tasty! I was still so hungry, so I added an egg, some smoked almonds, then two gf graham crackers with PB. Wondering, when you were losing weight, did you follow the 30 day Meal Plan in the book exactly or did you supplement between meals with something? I’ve got about 70 pounds to lose. Thank you.

    1. Hi Joey! When I make my green juice I leave the skin on the cucumbers. Peeling the layers can remove some nutritional value. The cucumber peel is a great source of dietary fiber. 🙂 <3

      1. Hi I’m still a bit confused on cucumber portion. Would 2 round slices be the equivalent on 2 tablespoons?

    1. Hi Tammie,
I do not include the nutritional information on any of my recipes. Due to everyone using different brands/ingredients the calorie count and nutritional information varies from person to person. I always suggest plugging in all of your ingredients into a program like MyFitness Pal in order to track the exact nutritional information of your meals. Wish you all the best!

  6. Would it be good to add some spring mix lettuce blend? I’m just wondering because we have so much in our pantry and I don’t want it to go bad.

    1. Hello Artemisa,
Spring mix lettuce is actually really bitter when you blend it so if you have a mix that is primarily Spinach and Kale I would say yes, but spring mix is generally more bitter so I wouldn’t necessarily blend it.
