Post-Workout Orange Creamsicle Lean Green Smoothie

This Orange Creamsicle Lean Green Smoothie is a refreshing post-workout treat! Packed with 32 grams of plant based protein per serving, this smoothie is not only delicious but it will make you feel strong and sustained all day long!

The benefits of adding collagen into your diet are abundant. Collagen is the most abundant form of protein in our bodies found in muscles, bones, skin, blood vessels, digestive system and tendons. I started taking collagen supplements back in 2017 when I was on my 125 pound weight loss journey because I knew that this protein is what helps give our skin strength and elasticity. And elasticity is definitely something I was interested in preserving or increasing while losing weight.

Collagen is known as a complex protein because it has a whopping 19 amino acids. However, collagen only has 8 of the 9 essential amino acids and it needs to be paired with something in order for it to be a complete protein.

My favorite pairing is spirulina powder. It’s easy to toss in and it’s dried so I can keep it in the pantry. But pumpkin seeds, cottage cheese, or yogurt will give you the 9th essential amino acid (tryptophan) too.Post-Workout Orange Creamsicle Lean Green Smoothie instantloss.com
Spirulina powder is vegan, non-synthetic, and is high in iron; vitamin K; vitamin A; vitamins B1, B2, and B12; and chromium. Spirulina is also a good source of zinc, and supplies magnesium, chlorophyll, phytonutrients, antioxidants, and essential amino acids- the building blocks of protein (GLA, Omega 3, 6 & 9s).⁣

Spirulina has more antioxidants than five servings of fruits and vegetables. Which helps you feel strong and sustained all day long.⁣

If you try this nutrient dense smoothie, let me know what you think! It can taste a little green if you’re not used to drinking kale and spirulina but overall it tastes just like an orange creamsicle!

  1. Do you have the nutritional info calculated for any of your recipes? I’m trying to keep to a modified keto diet using your recipes. This collagen smoothie looks fantastic but it looks like it has tons of carbs.

    1. Hello Elizabeth,
Thank you for reaching out! I do not include the calorie count or nutritional information on any of my recipes. All ingredients have different nutritional information so it will always vary depending on the exact ingredients (brands) you’re using. If you need to track nutritional information it’s best to calculate it for each recipe with your own ingredients into a program like MyFitness Pal because it can vary A LOT.
      Wish you all the best!
