Homemade Barbecue Sauce

Smoky, tangy, with a hint of spice this homemade barbecue sauce is great for grilling or dipping! We love this on top of chicken or hamburgers and best of all it’s husband approved!

My husband is a barbecue sauce connoisseur. I am not as picky. After reading the back of his favorite sauce we were sad to see that two of the main ingredients were high fructose corn syrup and corn syrup. We’ve tried several homemade sauces but nothing quite did it so I cooked up this one!

Barbecue sauce is one of the most popular condiments and used so much at my house. This recipe is a great alternative to the barbecue sauce you buy in the stores. What’s even better is it takes out the stuff that is not so great for you.

This is great to take to summer BBQs and have all your friends and family try to spot the difference between the two. I bet you they won’t be able to! I hope all of you condiment lovers love this new recipe.

Made this today with meatballs in the IP and it was nice and savory. I have never made my own BBQ sauce but this was so easy.

  3. Questions about Two Ingredients:
Honey – Do you think I could substitute maple syrup for the honey?
Coconut Aminos – Do you think I could leave out the coconut aminos? What purpose do they serve in the recipe?
These are two ingredients that I don’t normally have in my pantry.
    Thanks!

    1. Helly Kathy,
Yes can always substitute maple syrup for honey in any recipe and if you didn’t have coconut aminos on hand in your pantry you could substitute it for a low sodium soy sauce or brags liquid aminos. Hope that helps!

  4. How much sauce does this make? I have a recipe that calls for 1.5 cups of bbq sauce, but i wasnt sure if Id need to double the recipe. Thanks!
