Grain Free Blender Buns

These simple Grain Free Buns will give you something to hold onto while you enjoy all of your favorite fillings!

I know I’m not the only person who loves a good hamburger! No? Okay, good! We love hosting friends and family at our house and Brady loves grilling. I love eating my burgers protein style but they were starting to get boring so I finally decided I would figure out how to make a “healthy” hamburger bun.  These are the perfect alternative to a standard hamburger bun.

Conveniently made in your blender these nutty clean eating buns are very versatile. They’re great as biscuits and smeared with grass-fed butter and jam. Just don’t eat too many!

I love making these buns because they are so simple to make and are guilt free. Plus, they go great with any of these recipes, Barbecue Cheddar Burgers, Instant Pot Vegan Sloppy Joes, or my Quick and Easy Turkey Burgers!

Set up for the hamburger buns is so simple and that’s why I also like it. After mixing all your ingredients together, preheat the oven to 325F, and using a high powered blender like the Vitamix, layer the eggs, ghee, apple cider vinegar, cashews, coconut flour, almond flour, sea salt and baking soda. Blend on high using the tamper to push the mixture down into the blades until everything is smooth and combined. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and divide mixture into six equal parts. Form them into a smooth bun shape and place them on the baking sheet.  Brush them with egg white and sprinkle the tops with sesame seedsBake them for 26-28 minutes and then enjoy!

Your family and friends will never believe these buns are totally guilt free!

  1. This seems like a really nice recipe and an easy one too. Since I was going to try it this weekend, could you please tell me if it will work with almonds instead of cashews? I have loads of almonds I can put to use and I really like the taste they add to the dishes.

  2. These were very good! Ate them with bison burgers. It was a bit difficult in my Vitamix. So, I had to finish making in my food processor. Will make again for sure!

    1. I agree. My vitamix did not adequately incorporate everything and I had to keep stopping it to mix the puree under the blades with the unincorporated stuff on top. The tamper was not long enough to do this unfortunately. And then getting the mixture out was very difficult too. Next time I plan on just using my food processor.

  3. Has anyone tried freezing these? I’d like to try making a double batch and just thawing them as needed, but I’m curious if they’ll survive the thawing…

  4. Sorry. Me again. I just realized I don’t see the ingredients list. Where is it? I ordered your cookbook but can’t wait til then!! Haha.

  5. 5 stars
These came out so good!! Bread is definitely one of my weaknesses so when I decided to give these a try I kind of went in with a thought already in my head that they just wouldn’t be that great (I know I’m a jerk) but OMG I love them!!! Thank you 🙂

  6. I tried making these this weekend. Mine came out super dense! I don’t know what might have gone wrong? I used coconut oil but I only have a ninja, so i know the cashews didn’t get pulverized completely. I’ve made the blender muffins and they come out DELICIOUS!!! Actually, i made the HULK ones yesterday too!

  7. I have a Vitamin 5200. this batter was so dense it wouldn’t mix. I had pieces of cashews that couldn’t make it to the bottom…
I ended up scraping it out into my food processor and it still had a hard time mixing.

When I cleaned the Vitamix with soap and water and ran it, it still didn’t clean the bottom of the blades. It’s never done this before and I make my own homemade almond butter!

They’re in the oven now. We’ll see. They smell delicious by the way.

Could I have done something wrong or is this the density it is supposed to be?

    1. Hi Cathy, I am not sure how you added your ingredients into the Vitamix but with the Vitamix you have to layer the wet ingredients first and then add the dry ingredients. I also use this spatula which really helps in getting all of the mix out of the blender. https://amzn.to/3gXaCN1 Hope this helps!

  8. I’d love to make these, but every time I use flaxseeds or flaxmeal in my recipes I taste a kind of fishy taste! Idk why that is but can I substitute something other than the flax?

  9. Also, this recipe is a little different than the one in your Eat Real, Lose Weight cookbook. That’s the recipe I’m referring to in my comment above. I’d appreciate the help! Thank you in advance!
