Grain Free Chicken Nuggets

These Grain Free Chicken Nuggets are made with ground turkey instead of chicken, though chicken works too! Giving up fast food was a struggle so I started developing recipes for our fast food favorites.

One of the problems I thought I was going to have when I started on my journey, was letting go of certain food’s that I loved. After a while, my craving’s for certain food’s were getting to tough to ignore. I knew I would have to do something about that. I started looking into alternatives and I found this amazing recipe. Eating these keeps me from feeling like I’m being deprived and helps me stay on track!

My kids absolutely love their chicken nuggets and are so happy when I make these. They say they taste just like the ones they used to eat when we would go out. That is a total mommy win for me in my book. I was worried that they would not like them, but to my surprise, it has become a family staple.

If you have some picky eaters in your family, try this recipe and let know how everyone reacted to it. I know they will love them just as much as we all do. This recipe tastes great with a side of sugar free ketchup or my Homemade Ranch Dressing.

Grain Free "Chicken Nuggets"

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup coconut flour
  • 3 tablespoons arrowroot powder
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon coconut milk
 from a can or a carton
  • coconut oil for frying


Preheat a cast iron skillet to medium heat.
  • Mix coconut flour, arrowroot powder, sea salt, ground mustard, and pepper together in one bowl.
  • In a separate bowl beat egg with coconut milk.
  • When skillet is warm add a large dollop of coconut oil and begin dredging the turkey.
  • Form a small patty with the turkey, coat in the egg mixture, dredge in the flour mixture and then add to skillet. 6. Repeat. 
It will take the nuggets approximately 3-5 mins to cook on each side.

  1. These were good! My younger teen asked what was for dinner and didn’t believe me when I told him “chicken nuggets”. That doesn’t fit the healthy plan in the house. Ha ha! He looked me square in the eye and said, “LIES!!!” However…I liked these. Keeper!!
