Quick and Easy Turkey Burgers

These Quick and Easy Turkey Burgers are the perfect busy weeknight dinner! I always keep a pound of thawed ground turkey on hand for the nights when I really don’t feel like cooking. This is a great fall-back meal that the entire family enjoys!

No need to fret if you don’t have all of the ingredients on hand. These burgers are a jack of all trades! Leave out the oats if you’re grain free, sub basil for the spinach if you’re garden is overflowing and it is in season, no green onions? No problem! Just omit them.

Really. If you have ground turkey on hand, these simple burgers can always be for dinner!

I’ve done a lot of experimenting with these. I like to make them with leftover spinach, basil, green onions, and chives. If one of those is sitting in my refrigerator and needs to be used up that is the flavor profile I go with.

I love to make these on my cast iron and place a lid on top after I flip them so they maintain more moisture. Turkey can dry out quickly because of the low fat content so this is a trick that I use to keep them nice and juicy! If you do not have a lid on hand or if you prefer to cook them on a long griddle so you can make them all at once, that works fine too! I tried to sneak moisture filled veggies in here to combat the dryness issue.

Serve with sweet potato fries, homemade barbecue sauce, and all of your favorite burger fixins!

Quick and Easy Turkey Burgers

Print Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup gluten free rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup chopped baby spinach
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions or chives
  • 1 tablespoon dried minced onion
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • cooking spray

Instructions

  • On the stovetop, preheat a pan over medium-high heat.
  • In a large bowl, combine the turkey, egg, oats, baby spinach, onions, and sea salt. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and form patties between the palms of your hands. Wetting your hands with water, before you work with the turkey, will prevent sticking.
  • Lightly spray the pan with cooking spray. Working in batches, transfer the patties to the pan. Let them lightly brown on the bottom before flipping, about 5 minutes.
  • Place a lid over your pan while the second side cooks, about 2 to 3 minutes. Serve with your favorite burger fixings.

  2. Hi Brittany! New subscriber here! What kind of ground turkey do you use, besides organic? Turkey breast? 93% lean? There are a bunch of different options, and I want to choose the healthiest that also doesn’t dry out to much. Any tips?
    Thanks!

  3. Hi Brittany,
We’re egg free in our house. I think I can make these omitting the egg and oatmeal or maybe keep the oatmeal and leave out the egg?

  4. Is there something you can use to substitute the oats for someone who is strict on Keto and wants this to be as low carb as possible?

  5. Made these tonight and they were so easy and sooooooo good!!!! Thank you for sharing your recipes with us!

  6. Brittany, thank you for posting this delicious recipe! My kids loved these burger patties and ate it with tons of veggies. You are such an inspiration!

  7. These were great! I was out of the dried minced onion so I used a little onion powder and they were still yummy. Thank you so much for this recipe Brittany!

    1. I made them on the grill tonight and they were awesome! My only issue is that the meat was a little sticky, so I had to form the burgers on wax paper and then flip them on to the grill and peel off the paper. Just don’t turn them to early or they will fall apart.

I fixed these tonight and I really enjoyed them. I will definitely make these again! I’m going to try cooking in my air fryer next time and see how they turn out.
